Some questions please guys

Hi guys I asked before but not sure on the answer...

What model is my car or whats it based on from what you can see in the pics? Is it built by the book you think?

Id like to buy a new scuttle panel and wind deflector but everyone says 'what model it is' etc and i just dont know to be exact.

Any good sites that sell parts just for my car?

Thanks in advance

Yodi

Well it certainly isn't a STM / Aries car.....
That's for sure.

Of course it could be a homebrew book kit.

What's the welding like on the chassis. The wishbones look a bit DIY'd!!!

They are diy'd I'd imagine but they aren't terrible, same as the chassis.

Definately home brew. Chassis looks like Book Chassis by Ron C, with some modifications in the engine bay and cockpit.

Why don't you take some measurements? IIRC the chassis at the widest is 1060 mm. You can download the Locost drawings somewhere.

Or give the measurements to the scuttle seller.

I ain't dissing your car BTW. Just saying it might be homebrew so finding a perfect fit "OEM" bit might be tricky... The welding's about 1000% better than my welding, just trying to be helpful.....

Thanks Marteen,

I got the car for a reasonable price but needed lots of bits doing to it to even make it what I would class as roadworthy.... Ive done a lot of bits over the last month but there is still lots to do.

Next year I will be selling my converted house to buy my own house with garage, at which point I will do a nut and bolt rebuild on it

If you can drive it take it to the place and say "it's for this"

That was my method when I got "It's a what? Never heard of it"

Does this help Identify which book may have beenused to build the car from? This car on ebay looks very very similar to mine like the rear arches, all the metal work etc etc

It's really not possible to tell from a picture. You would need to measure the width and height of the chassis at some key points e.g. across scuttle area and across front where nose cone sits and compare that to the various book designs.

Even if this is a "book" chassis design, the height of the nose/bonnet/scuttle can vary (the XE is a tall engine!), and I wouldn't like a guarantee the radius of the outer curved parts are the same either.

I would measure all the important dimensions of your current scuttle (front and rear width, height, radius of corners etc.) and contact as many companies as possible and see if they can supply something suitable.
