Soft-top cars 'plastic' windows.

I've put this question in here as opposed to 'anything else' as I thought any answers may be useful to those making side-screens/roofs etc.

Basically, colleague of mine has a soft-top Toyota Celica. It needs one of the clear-plastic panels replaced before he can sell it. Does anyone know anyone who does this sort of thing? Otherwise is it possible to buy the plastic sheet and for him to do it himself?

Thanks,

James

I've been after doing this aswell as I'm buggered if I'm paying Pug £300 for one. Can buy a new roof for £500!!

My only idea for DIY is to use the stuff you find on caravan awnings then get a zip and a cardboard template and have a word with the local shoe repair shop. Reckon their sewing machines would be strong enough for the plastic.

Other than that, there are products that claim to clear the milky-ness from plastic screens. Hingsight is the one that springs to mind but, even though I have ready some reasonable reviews, it doesn't convince me of spending the £30-odd they ask for a bottle!

They sell it by the roll or in sheet form, i used to buy it for work. Make sure its UV stabilised though or it will go milky.......try your luck at a free sample, i did a few years back and got one of the machinists at work to put it in the hood of my F27. works ok, was a bit thinner than the original stuff but more flexible too though.
