Ok.let's start here.
Now, your donor car.
The vast majority of the running gear will be useful to you for building an IRS car.
The engine is probably of little use, but you can keep the gearbox and bolt a zetec up to it. As you probably know, the twin cam in your Sierra
isn't even closely related to a zetec.

the engine is less than desirable although its a twin cam its less tuneable than the Pinto.
If you go the zetec route, the starter from this engine is a must for the zetec to type nine gearbox

As above, use everything but ditch the engine for a zetec.

As well as the shift key, put some detail in the thread title!
As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I've got a little list-- I've got a little list
Of society offenders who might well be underground,
And who never would be missed-- who never would be missed!

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Your building a Locost and you have a Sierra as a donor.
In my book it's a very good start, you can build the whole car with what you have ( engine included) get it on the road quite quickly and play
around with engine upgrades and the associated costs later.
Do check that the Locost plans are for a Sierra IRS and not a live axle Escort.
That said nodding a live axle chassis for DeDion or IRS is not a big job.

In all seriousness, using block capitals is not easy on the eye and some people consider it to be shouting.
It is polite to turn the caps lock off if you wouldn't mind.
Cheers

WELL I HAVE A COPY OF.... (only joking)
Uncle Rons book that im never going to use again. Besides, i took a scan of the pages for my own benefit of course, so all the pages are loose and
could do with going into a folder.
Live axle is a good start. Some prefer this as it is more primitive and exciting to control at full chat. IRS is obviously much better for turning
and twisties, so it depends on whether you want to drag race or track day the car at the end.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

The zetec from an escort or mondeo will bolt straight onto a type 9 or the mt75 that you have.Turning a fwd engine into a rwd engine. You will need a
1.8 flywheel and clutch with a ct133 release bearing.
You use the starter motor from your twincam.

Yes,the sierra box will bolt straight onto this engine. Use a 23 spline 220mm clutch and cover from a Mondeo 1.8 and a ct133 Capri release bearing.
You will need to make suitable engine mounts to fit your chassis and a mount for the alternator but it will all come together nicely.
This has been done many times before and is common practice.
