Llandow Sprint 27/07
Just got round to uploading the footage from llandow. Moved to a GoPro Hero 3 due to poor quality and reliability with the old system.
Managed to get my PB down by 3/10s despite being on considerably worse condition tyres than last year and the weather held off until the end of the
day. Car is suffering a lot with high speed understeer, partly due to the trashed tyres and partly due to front end lift, still very good through bus
stop though!
Still can't catch Ian Parr in the busa engined Riot (4/10ths faster), that thing is extremely fast!

I was there for a track day and am glad to see my lines were similar and pace was not far off.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

My lines were a bit wayward in that one due to struggling with the understeer on the first lap. For those that work in lap times, my flag to flag lap
was a 43.6.

Hmm, thats faster than I was going. Not checked footage but doubt I was near that.
Are you running slicks? I would not be able to get some of the corner speeds your achieving, my R888 were not hanging on like you in the video.
Ill settle for your level of wayward lines. Your no slouch. Care to share what ones in your vid are that wayward to loose you that much time?

if you look at adams times you will see him faster than pretty much everything! you would need a quick car to be lapping in a similar time. not easy
to compare a road car to a 'proper' hillclimber. they are worlds apart!

I'm running fairly knackered A15 Avon slicks, but they'll still be night and day against R888 (especially on a 2 lap sprint). New A24 Avon
ZZRs are probably pretty similar performance wise to what I'm running now.
The corners that lost me time at the three long right handers. Before the back straight i'm a little wide (more so on the second lap) and having
to lift slightly to bring the front end round (a dab of left foot may have been the better option). I'm also a little wide coming out of the
chicane on the first lap causing me to lift a little where I would generally keep it pinned (as on the second lap), and a little wide on the last
corner not allowing the car to straighten up as soon as I'd like. There was probably a second in those three over the two laps. I've only
got 135bhp at the wheels to play with, so maintaining every mph makes the difference! I improved a bit for my last run which was half a second faster,
but there was probably another half second to come with a bit more bravery onto the back straight!

It certainly does. He runs tighter lines which I guess is where he makes the time but has to work hard at it which must be robbing speed.
From my karting days of prokarts the aggresive driving would rob a lot of speed so he must have an advantage to get the speed back. Power, weight or
tyres I guess?
A wider line out of that last corner was definitely faster for me but i have twice the torque of a bec so I can reduce my turn in angle and keep the
power in.
I was WOT before the apex of all the corners leading to a fast section and I think tidy with average lines. R888, and weight seem my disadvantage to
these vids, and probably driver talent.
Unfortunatly I have very little footage or data which is a pig as I would like people to critique my driving so I can improve.

Weight mainly ....those Riots in Sprint form weigh very little. I've only ever done trackdays at Llandow, lapping in the 43sec mark. You can
certainly get away with taking more curb during a sprint than a trackday so there would be time there as well.
