IVA PASS!!!!!!!
PASSED MY IVA RETEST TODAY!!!!
Was at Yeading with Gordon, top bloke!
Went through my failure list, did a couple of tests and proceeded to hand me my IVA certificate!
Even got the make and model right too!
Now just need to battle the DVLA, shame they're all pretty much shut now...
Only question I have is 355/4 or 355/5?
It's a sylva striker built with some new some old parts, no proof of any donor parts or V5.
So am I registering a new or used car?
DVLA seem to think used.

your car is still new because it didn't exist BEFORE you built it.

Congrats, well done anmd good luck with DVLA.
It's a new car, but built from unknown parts origin its a Q plate.
Unles you want to convince them its built from all new, except your engine and go for a new reg plate. I'm sure some have, depends which

But some of the major components are second hand (engine, box, brakes etc)
V55/4 says if you cannot prove the age of the vehicle then you will get a Q plate (which I will need) and says you need to complete the v55/5
application for a used vehicle

Yours will be the same as mine, so you should get 2013 date of first reg, on a Q plate.
You can prove the age of the vehicle, you have your IVA certificate.

Yeh I know it's a Q, just confused on the form I use.
DVLA say use the "used car" form whereas I also see it as a new car!

Don't start listening to the DVLA they don't know their own rules.
If there is a strong majority opinion on here from people on here who have done it then generally it is correct.

No I don't really believe them.
So do I want a v55/4 or v55/5?

Thanks for the help guys,
Have done a bit more reading and yes this website appears to imply that i should use the V55/4 (register a new car) rather than used.
I'll file the paperwork and then let the DLVA tell me it's wrong

that's pretty much what i've been told, i just didn't agree with the fact they are essentially asking us to "register a used
vehicle" when it's never been used and has only just been built!
After googling a bit more, there's lots of debate on whether to use the V55/4 or V55/5, none of which really give a finite answer!
I was weighted towards submitting a V55/4 but i'm really not sure.

I think you will find you need the /5
I was after an age related and needed to prove re-used parts and new chassis.... I. Was told if I could not prove the chassis was new through
declaration from the fabricator I would get a Q plate... No mention of a new form...I sent the /5...

I'd argue that was a standard, uninformed response, hence the "MOT if applicable" nonsense.
Have you preceded /completed with your registration yet?

cheers for the comments guys, yeh a bloody good feeling but a frustrating one too knowing i can't drive it until DVLA pull their fingers out and
give me a V5!
Think i'm just gonna go with what they told me to do, so will file a V55/5 with the relevant stuff..
Hopefully i wont be waiting too long....
Have got 12 jackets, ski gloves and a helmet waiting....!
Maybe i should invest in a windscreen, oh and doors, oh and a roof, oh and a heater..... hold on, that weighs too much, who ever heard of all that on
a car anyway!!!
