Locost Wheel Locks (!)

Look what I invented:

They work best with alloy wheels where the lug nuts are recessed into the wheel so the would-be thief can't just use locking pliers instead of a socket.

In the vain hope to become immortal, said method shall henceforth be known as Nugent's Locost Wheel Locks. Huzzah!

Exactly what Lotus do with there wheel nuts, they use this same method on one of the four nuts and give you a special socket to remove the nut.

Strictly speaking I guess they or someone else invented it, sorry

Rich.

It won't stop anybody using a 12 point socket.

Unless its a very big bead of weld.

You could always put the bead of weld on a corner and cut socket to fit. I have no idea what this might do to the structural integrity of the nut or the socket though.

Just use a bigger socket

I was under the impression that if you welded a pip onto the wheel nuts you could get them off very easily with a gator grip (right name?? socket with spring loaded pins inside?).

Theres probably not a lot you can do if someone really wants the wheels, only slow them down. It wouldnt be hard to just pick up a se7en and put it on a trailor or drag it away. Wheel clamp is probably best idea so that at least they wont get a full set and may walk away. A custom style clamp shouldnt be that hard to do, or even a chain thro the wheel spokes?? - onto suspension, chassis or nearby lampost.

Won't stop anyone with a big shifter either!

for the sake of £20-30 for a proper set of locking wheel nuts. All depends on how pricey your wheels are.

Regardless of what security you have if some chav likes your wheels he's gonna have em.

wouldn't be hard to just unbolt the front wishbones and have the whole lot away.

Damn, thinking like a criminal now!!

Locked myself out of the house yesterday as well, took me less than 5 minutes to get back in!!

yeahhh

Yeah....

its more a matter of how much time it them cost then if they can do the job.

but one thing is what a thief wants, as much value in less time it can get.

and there are more thins that its a nightmare for them and one is if people look at him!!

Soow using special wheel nuts is an good idea,

but if they want to get them of they will!!

I have TSW imola rims, and they look great but for thiefs or bad people its an nightmare they have an central nut and an spring.... but the spring can be robbed and the nut ok that one i could glue but then if i need to take the wheel of???

You only have to make it less interessant...

soow after the data logger i'm gonna make an alarm module a ver very very sensitive one!!

the trick will be that i use a water and salt solution in a res with 2 leads....

if the water vibrates then the resistance will change and that;s the alarm actuator..

in fact you can' move, lift, vibrate, touch, slam etc. to anything because if the resistance change it will give alarm...

and the more time has passed since the alarm is activated, the more sensitve it will become..(the fluid will stop moving..)

(self learning)

SOOWW beware of my vehicle!!

the springs could be robbed anyway..

but if i steal them earlier then they do..

Regards,

TKS
