Kart Advice - Value

Hi all,

I've been offered a go kart, in bits, with two engines.

The kart is complete with a Yamaha 125cc 2 stroke motor and a 100cc Rotax motor.

Everything is supposed to be there, except a throttle cable, track rod end and it needs two bearings.

Wants £100 for it. Am I buying trouble ?

Cheers, Lyn.

Used go karts generally mean trouble. You will not know for sure until you put it together and run the thing.

Things to check:
- axle: straight?
- chassis: straight?
- wheels: how many and damaged?
- Seat
- brake(s)

if this is all in good order 100ukp sounds like a good deal to me.

With go kart engines I would always give them a full overhaul before installing them. You can check the web for prices of parts for your specific engine types.

Am a bit supprised by the different engines. There is a huge power difference between them; are you sure both fit?

For £100 you would struggle to make a loss on the deal, I've paid much more than that for a bare chassis b4

Grab it and have some fun

Cheers

Of course you will only know the true story once you have stripped everything down and assessed the parts required for a rebuild but I would have thought £100 is a bargain for a new hobby.
They are infectious once you start though, so beware

i sold my rotrax 100cc kart last year for 700 pounds so sounds like a bargin, but give it a good look over as some of the other replies suggest.

the only usual trouble is the chassis is bent you cant tell by the eye, turn the steering and the opposite wheel should lift thats a good start.

but for 100 quid who cares just a bit of diy
