Depends on

a. if you're buying a finished one - in which case it mostly depends on the person who built it and how it's been looked after since

or

b. building/buying a kit - in which case from my experience they're ok but require a fair bit of 'fettling' to get things to fit properly.

They are about the most traditional looking 7 type Locost kit in terms of bodywork but that means it can be hard to fit a lot of car engines under the bonnet without getting involved in 'power' bulges etc....

Ian 'Stuart Taylor' Grey is a decent bloke as well

Why?

I bought mine as a rolling chassis, so I can't really comment on the basic build part, but as stated above, the main problem is fitting the engine under the bonnet as it seems to be lower than many other sevens

I like mine
Power bulge and all!!

Built it pretty much solely from STM parts in their garage (pretty cheap rental considering I had air tools etc at my disposal)....

They have a pretty good reputation and Ian's a pretty good chap (as long as you know roughly what you want before you contact him- people ringing up saying maybe they want to build an Ultima or maybe a Caterham or maybe a Locost wind him up a bit....)... Don't blame him though- listening to people procrastinate and 'um and 'ar when you've got cars to be built is a bit annoying...

"STM are very successful in motorsport"

mmmmm the one thing that annoys me about them is the claim in their advertising that THEIR cars have won the Locost Championship for the past 5 years or so. That's stretching the truth more than somewhat - apart from one of those years, people who have driven cars built up from KITS bought from Stuart Taylor Motorsport which have then had all the fettling done to put them together properly have won the championship. There is a HUGE difference

Name a locost that doesnt require some fettling?
Five different drivers as locost champions. Perhaps only similarity is ST car - ?
