Non-welded chassis!!

Has anyone seen p.88 of the September issue of Which Kit?? There's a pic of a Caterpork chassis - check out the joints. These appear to be brazed, not welded. Is this standard practice for this manufacturer?
If so, why don't other chassis builders use brazing? Or is simply down to most appropriate (to the builder) choice of construction methods?

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

I always thought brazing wasn't a great idea for these chassis because of excess heat and the associated banana effect....?

Maybe I'm wrong..

Cock off or cock on. You choose.

there has been recent, and a fair amount in the past, discussion about brazing the chassis.

Its been said that one of the major mfr of seven replicas do just this.

Brazing is fine...I believe Arch motors still braze frames for Caterham.

However, the joint fit must be near perfect, butt joints are dodgy, and it is very slow...

Bottom line....MIG is easier, faster and more forgiving......and more suitable for the "book" design.
