Go-kart engine/box??
Anyone got any clues as to where I can get some engines for a go-kart? About 3-5hp four strokes. And also some sort of transmission. The last one I
built for a bloke at work used an old Suffolk mower engine and just used a V-belt to make things work. As you pushed the go pedal, it pulled the belt
tight and also opened the throttle. It worked but was a bit rubbish!
Any suppliers of those cheap Chinese engines with centrifugal clutches built in?
I may even craft a couple to sell so if I have to buy new, I don't mind.
And as ever, locost is good!!

makro were at one time selling honda 5hp petrol powered pressure washers, about half the price of a new 5hp honda engine from machine mart.
get one with a key shaft, and zip karts can sell you a centrifugal clutch for chain drive.
or use a motorbike engine. fireblade, ninja, hyabusa...

5hp isnt a lot for a kart, OK for a kiddie or something though I guess. Ive been in the zip karts at Thruxton which are meant to be about 13bhp but I
didn't think they were very quick really.

I'd tend to agree with Chris. 5 hp isn't quite enough, but equally, a busa is a bit too much!! Unless you fancy a gixxer kart or some
such, but they are a bit mentalist!

I have a spare FZR600 motor and a XT600 but as my son is only two, I thought they may be a bit much.
Cheers for the suggestions. Keep them coming!!

What's wrong with a Honda C50 engine? Three speed and centrifugal clutch. You can put the gears out of reach until he can handle them, and the
power will not pin him in his seat.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!
