Tree v Telegraph Pole v Car

Firstly, if anyone was killed or seriously injured in this incident I apologize for posting this pic.

I pass this spot on my way to and from work each day, and today I happened to have my camera with me.

It looks to me that the car passed through the pole and hit the base of the tree. (Note the missing bark)

I've been wondering what would cause that sort of damage, and what sort of vehicle was involved?

On searching through the grass I found the answer. Will post another pic later.

The sign, by the way is a 30.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Once saw a biker hit a telegraph pole at the bottom as he slid off the road and the pole snapped about 3 feet down from the top....

Earlier 3.6, so not that special.

Explains why the pole bust, cars usually wrap themselves around them and stop.

In the same vein - did anyone else see last week's 5th Gear, when MIRAS drove a car into an old tree at 55mph? The dent in the middle of the bonnet went back as far as the windscreen, and the front bumper was U-shaped.

The verdict was that the driver and passenger would have been severely injured by the deceleration, but otherwise only the odd broken bone.

Anyway - back to this thread - where was that accident Paul?

Hi David

B1064, as you exit the village of Foxearth heading towards Sudbury.

You may well pass this spot when you go home from mine.

Yup, I remember that one.

That one was in the "gearbox donor position"

I don't know what's wrong with that road ???

There's hardly a hedge without a hole in it.

Just after Xmas a Disco spun off, through some bushes, into a stream, then hit a tree.
And they say that 4X4's don't go off road.
