V6 Duratec is a nice engine but the bolt pattern for the gearbox is different, the Granada Cosworth V6 would be an easier fit.
There are many engines in Locosts so no hard and fast rules however most people go for straight 4 pot engines, all ally being the favourite.
The idea is to get the engine as far back as possible and use a light engine thus having even front to rear weight distribution. Front heavy is not so
good in a locost

The type 9 or mt75 from a 2wd sierra will fit straight onto a zetec s engine. It doesnt get any easier to bolt together.
As said before any zetec from an escort or mondeo will be great.
Beware though,a zetec se engine from a fiesta or focus will need a different bellhousing as the bolt pattern is different.

wow, my English is bad, but I had to read all off it to understand what this is about.
Building a Locost is not everything buying.
You have to sort things out, so easy going.
I would advise you to hang around for sometime and then you deside if you go on.
I bought the "orange" book from the tiger avon and "uncle Ron's all green" locost-book.
Forget the 250 pounds and be prepared for 5000 or more.
Back to you last question:
If you using that engine IMO your answers is allready stated, If it is the 2.0 litre DOHC you must know that it is a higher engine, so heading for
some problems extra.
I'm using it.
- engine mounted in angle drop 3,5 degree forward, diff also (want no vebrations)
- shortened sump
- handmade intake for EFI
- you will need wider gearbox-bay for the MT75, so wider chassis is adviseble.
Maybe you can buy that new LOCOST book from Chris Gibbs, it's based on the Sierra/sapphire
Your propshaft must be made, or maybe some kitcar manufacturer can deliver one. (your leg will be around aprox. 300 mm, so go for quality!)
The differential option would be the sierra with IRS or DION.
Try search almost everything is mentioned.
Good luck,

Hi,
I don't know which chassis you're building.
If it is Uncle Ron's stick with the MK2 steering rack. You don't want any bumpsteer.
If you have a live-axle from a Escort you could mount that one. IMO you could go for IRS. But that's your choice.
You could take a look around on Flak's site. http://gtslocost.locostsites.co.uk/
grtz

no. at best you would get age related registration plate - that is another registration pulled out of the bag by DVLA for the same year.
for example, say your donor registraion is L387DUX then the registration you would get would begin with L - the letter that denotes the year the car
is registered.
You will need to prove using a points system (again search as it has been asked) that you have used enough parts from the donor to do this, else you
get a Q registration plate.

The Q means MOT inspections more often than otherwise, if i have understood things. It makes it less desirable when it's time to sell. Am I
correct?

Chop the sump to the same level as the bottom of the bell housing.
I seriously wouldnt bother using the twin cam engine and find a zetec - the TC is rubbish - in all senses of the word. Or if you dont want to worry
about emissions get a 2l pinto, cheap, reliable and simple.
If its a locost based chassis then you have 2 choices when it comes to rear axle. An escort axle or de dion to use sierra parts. If you go for sierra
you will end up with a 4" wider track and need to match that at the front with wider wishbones and extensions for the steering rack (fit on the
track rods). Personally I would choose sierra as the parts are easier to get and theres a better choice of diff ratios.
