Yeh, but a lap in what car?? You'd be very disapointed to pay that sort of money to find out it's the Lacetti

£8099 and counting for 1.5 minutes round the track and probably not a high performance car. I bet the could stretch to a couple of laps and a decent car without trying all that hard.

Especially after Chris Evans' auction on Radio 2 last night - a day driving 7 classic ferraris (including his own California and an F40), staying at a flash hotel, then golf the next day, then off to Chris' pub for dinner cooked by Geogio Locatelli, disco by Chris, live set from ocean colour scene, then the next day off to the Goodwood FoS for the day.....

and TG can't confirm a date, or a car, or that it might even happen. Surely they could have borrowed an Enzo off nick Mason or JK for it, to have a confirmed car... Kind of smacks of last minute thinking if you ask me...

It is madness. You could buy a pretty decent 7 type car and go to a track, do all the laps you want, far better driving than being driven IMO.

I wonder if it will end up like the Blue
Peter chocolate bar auction?

(for those that are too young to remember, BP had live phone in auction for a large chocololate bar, bids were getting into silly money, thousandsof pounds. Later turned out they are spoof.

Surely it could be track instruction by Stig and chance to set your own lap in a reasnably priced car to be stuck on the board, followed by 3 laps each in 2 nice cars, some lunch and chance to attend the show itself.

Doesnt even include transport to the track or an overnight stay which surely wouldnt be that much.

Good cause yes, but not offering much are they!

I'm pretty sure for that money they're not just gonna take the winner out for a single lap in the "reasonably priced car".

I'd think it more likely they'll be around for a few hours, get to see the recording of some TopGear footage (auction says it'll probably be on a wednesday, the day TG is filmed in the studio) if they have the Stig there, it'll be to film some "hot laps" and who knows what they'll be testing on the day

If I had money to burn, I'd have a bid

It would be good if you could do a timed lap in your own car to be included in the show, i bet the guy who owns Ultima would have a punt!

Nope, and I've met her....very average looking, can't drive and would probably prefer your girlfriend/wife to you (allegedly) so I've never got why grown men get all silly about her

NO.... £12.5k is for CHARITY

Personally speaking its either a spoof, or if its real, its a damn poor show from the BBC.

I would expect, a Lap with Stig, and a drive in the reasonably priced car, and the lap put on the show as well.

Even a Lap in your Own car, (with or without the Stig Driving) would be good (and shown on the show).

As said previously, smacks of too little too late and at the last minute. It would cost next to nowt to make it really great day out.

For £12.5K you can buy a good BEC and get a load of track days in, make a good donation to Children in Need, and have change from the petrol used!!

EDIT:

SHAME on the BBC for such a poor offering.

And me, especially with the pretentious silly name, there are loads better looking women on TV, even the average Tesco on a busy day would produce several that I wouldn't climb over etc etc.....
