Can you believe it ?
Went on an Escort mk2 hunt thursday at a local mill complex, lots of one man car repair firms etc Didnt find a mk2 though
"But " whilst digging through a pile of old body panels discarded wheels and assorted junk ( i had spotted some 1" square tubing
that looked like it could be usefull ) I only went and found a fully welded Locost chassis with steering rack and after asking round i came away with
the chassis a mk2 rear axle and gearbox for £75:00 and i only missed the x-flow 1600 buy a week

Lifes hard at times
Well done, it should be on the road next week
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it

Have to admit to having to nipping myself a few times and then wondering if it was a good idea as what i really wanted to do was build my own locost
from the ground up .
But you dont look a gift horse in the mouth tbh and having run a tape rule over the chassis its square and flat (though no suspension brackets fitted
so theres still something for me to add ) and the weld quality is good , all thats worrying me now is that ive missed something obvious and ive
just bought a pile of scrap

Well, if it's a nail at least you have most of the 1" tube and a steering rack.
You be able to 'soak test' your grinder as you chop it up.
Seriously though, sounds like a good find.
I guess you'll be using a cup brush ( THE TOOL ) as then getting some primer and paint on it soon then ?
I had the same plans as you, building from the ground up, but a part finished project turned up, nice job, so I took it on. I can handle the guilt !
! !
I have another one planned after this, my Mrs' is very understanding and has mastered 'Whatever you want to do...'
So the next one will be more like Hicost's beast.
Good luck with it, do a little every day and remember people don't see ALL the work you have put in, only when the panels go on do they say
' It's coming along now isn't it ?'
