Cleaning plastic expansion tank ????
I've been given the perfect shape expansion tank for the bulkhead but it has a load of brown cack up the inside of it.
Any bright ideas or tips on cleaning it out ?? im sure i saw something a couple of years back on here that worked really well but cant remember what
was used ?

Small stones and sand worked well for ours. Fill the expansion tank and give it a damn good shake. Just make sure it's cleaned out well before
fitting it and filling up with coolant.

Soak in vinegar and hot water for a few hours..
Then dishwasher it a few times.... good as new!

put some sand and pebbles in it half fill with water and shake, then wash out well also put some plastic under filler cap when screwed on to stop
getting sand in it. Clean out well ( workes a treat)

Wow, cheers guys, got a few ideas to be going on with there - Spot on
Its from a 'P' reg rover 200 and mounts on a vertical surface if anyone is looking for something similar.

Sand is very good.
- Im not sure about dishwashers.
They are very good for a lot of things, but the tend to ages plastics, certainly at our students union 10-20 washes totally does for what are
otherwise indistructable plastics pint glasses.
Ment to last months, but after only a dosen or so washes (a few nights) there brittle as bolocks.

I used Washing powder as bleach really does stress crack plastics badly.
