I'd like a map for my mobile as it has to download the free msn maps as I go along. Not good for driving in the country with no signal.
I'm having the same problem as you. It seems just the tom tom software is around £80 to buy.
Its no wonder people rip off software so often.

I thought if you had a say a Tom Tom that was UK you could go on line and upload the latest Uk map for free and so on. Is that not the case. I was
gonna do it with my Euro one just before i go to Le Mans?

They're using the same trap as printer makers use on their customers, i.e. printers are cheap but the ink cartridges are expensive - GPS units
are relatively cheap, but the map updates are very expensive.
Saying that - I bet that the maps are their greatest investment in time and money, far more so than the units themselves.
