r1 fuel pump

Hi guys,

I have installed an r1 fuel pump on the avon (R1 Carbs) but i think
i may have killed it!!

I connected the blue and black wire from the pump to positive and the black to negative. installed the pump by mounting it on a chassis rail- but nothing,
the pump wont run at all no matter what I try.

Is there a correct orientation for the pump? does it need priming? anything else???!!

thanks in advance

Les

R1 carb external pumps self regulate,if its up to pressure it switches off, very quiet pump but you should hear some ticking while its dragging the fuel up.

I did suck some fuel into mine to prime it before running which is probably a good idea.

All the normal stuff check live feed/fuse and earth, sadly does sound like it might be buggered though.

Les i just checked through my old build notes and yes its black/blue = plus and black = minus

The pipes on the pump are slightly different sizes, big pipe is feed in from tank and small pipe out to carbs.

I find my pump fairly noisy, but you should hear it clicking when you turn on the ignition.
