Less ambitious project
Has anyone considered taking on a less ambitious project?
I am building my locost 7 for some 7 years or so. In the mean time I got married, 2 kids, moved house twice, and I have a busy job for which I have to
travel a lot. I live in a crappy old farm house. We want to build a new garage of 100 sq.m. (DIY) and a new house in a couple of years. And I have
more hobbies like motorcycling and sailing.
My wife is sweet, but not very supportive on my locost project. My locost is taking a lot of space in the existing garage, and the missus likes me to
spend more time on the house/garden instead of my locost. And off course she is right: I have to take care of my family and build a less crappy house.
Consequently, my locost is always last on my priority list.
That's why sometimes I am considering taking on a less ambitious project.
- Oldtimer Landy
- MG or Triumph roadster
- BMW E30 Cabriolet
- Mazda MX-5
- building a cafe racer from a BMW boxer motorcycle
What to do? Anyone been there?

What makes u think that u can find the time to any of the others?
If your priorty is the family and house, then stick with those until your life changes and you get bored.
Around 40 years old I'd say at a guess
Cars are built from passion, not a passing wim. Sorry Im harsh, but it is tough building anything

I kinda know where you are comming from..
After spending 4 years solid in the garage building projects from scratch, it has been nice to now have the classic TVR..
Yes it was a busy 5-6 months doing a full rebuild... but now its MOTd and driveable its nice to have the choice to either go for a drive, or fiddle
with it and improve it....
But I guess you would get the same out of your kit car..
Stick with it and get it finished... its a journey not a race!

All the others take less time, and provide a quicker satisfaction. Like tegwin says. A little bit of fiddle, a bit of driving. That would suit better
to my life, i guess.

No, persist with the build. You will regret getting rid of it. Mine took 11 years but I must admit that other projects got in the way and then the
demise of SVA forced me into finishing it. (or should I say starting it as they are never finished!!!)

FINISH IT!!! im also a 7 yearer at the moment. hopefully going for my first IVA in a few weeks... probably gonna fail. Ive had a lot of things going
on and the car has rarely been priority and when it has it wasnt for long. Now that the TA has stopped all training for 6 months (yes i thought it was
a joke as well, weve bloody got people going out to afghan soon and their being told to cut training until PDT starts) ive got a bit more time to put
toward the car....... hopefully....

Keep your kit for as and when but get yourself sonmething like a Jago jeep - cheap to buy veryeasily sorted out and fun to drive all escort running
gear and you can upgrade 'til cows come home or just run it and run it and run it
In the time you have been building w e have had about 20, most have been sorted out and sold on which leaves us with one which costs us nothing to
own, run and insure. Worth a thought
