In need of motivation....

....its getting to the point where I could do with some motivation....gah! I think we all have them. I am currently wishing for more time than I have. Not looking for sympathy, just rambling on...

Seems like every time I look at the car there is more and more to do and a huge list of stuff I havent even started that needs doing.

I have a list and it just seems to grow and grow...

Engine:
Hydraulic clutch to test - one of those moments of truth...

Fuelling pipe work - this requires mounting of swirl pot, finding a home for the injection fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. All of which may be a little tight....

Cooling pipe work - working out how best to get water from back of head to top hose of rad

Intercooler pipe work - not too bad, just intercooler to plenum to sort

Exhaust to modify - pinto one to butcher and adapt to duratec flange

Electrics to finish - mostly in but needs connecting up. Also now realise I forgot the alternator charging and 12v feeds

Intake and plenum to sort - inside of plenum adaptors either need trumpets bolting in or figure out how to put a 10mm rad on each hole in the backplate

Figure out the oil pressure and temperature fittings, as the raceline housing has an M12x1.5 thread in it ....grr

Back end:
Complete strip down. Strip all old paint and repaint (again) with chassis black. Never, ever use your car in the winter, salt is a killer.

Rebuild with LSD, disc brakes etc. Also need to fit new low pressure fuel pump and figure out how on earth I am going to fit it in there.

May not sound much, but there we go....just seems rather a daunting amount of work to get done for the end of March.

Sounds like a load of work. The problem is you know too much. A bit of ignorance goes a long way.

Don't despair!

Good old white board with a project plan - list of jobs and parts and start ticking them off.

Do you have a self imposed deadline for completion?

One job at a time monkey man (says me!!)

We all wait with abated breath for your monster to turn out.

Keep ploughing on bud. Your nice clean workshop has got to be an advantage over most, so were all looking forward to seeing whats produced.

Kindest Regards,

I think you are very ambitious, and unfortunately, know a lot, therefore want to use that knowledge. I don't blame you one bit, but I'd take the help if offered. I certainly wish I had it here.

You have started to address the issues, take your list, pick a job, for instance, "Today i am going to look at the fuel system and if I only fit the fuel pump thats fine"
That way you achieve something by the end of the period assigned, you stop work in a positive mood and am ready when you go back to it.
Worked for me.

You need a beer fridge in that massive garage of yours..

Just think it could be worse, what if you were waiting on spare parts from GTS and wishbones from Wozsher..... Just imagine if you had a indy, you would still be messing with self centering..... you have it easy you know...

Thanks chaps.

Will have to see how I get on this weekend I reckon. If I can get the wiring and plumbing done then I will be happy. Starting the exhaust will be a bonus. I know I need 2 clear weeks to get the back end sorted, so need to have started that by week 11 ideally...

I might even get some stuff done tonight if I can get another couple of jobs out of the way.

David

A coffee machine, a comfy chair for when you need a break, and a decent stereo with Black Stone Cherry or Iron Maiden. That'll make it all better.

Keep going David - I can't wait to hear you arrive at the Diss EAKCC meetings!

Yes the deadline is the end of March, the idea being this give me 1 month to get it set up well enough and iron out any teething problems before the 100mile trip to stoneleigh....

Well just been out and temporarily connected up the clutch master cylinder, filled it with fluid and bled it.

Seems to be ok, time will tell if there are any leaks anywhere I guess. Also only testing will see if its releasing ok

Lol, thanks

But the saga is ongoing.....

I think I might just say that Stoneleigh is a no go this year. Unless I can get some time off work and this idle issue fixed this weekend its just not going to happen.
