Jobs left to do on the car

Like some of the other pathetically sad stories on here today, my car's been off the road for a couple of years as well.

The challenge is no funds through being unemployed!
Oh, and lack of motivation through crappy garage with no space, light, power etc.

With the nice weather I've been getting itchy feet so I went and made a list of the jobs that need doing on it.
Some are jobs that were never done before SVA, some are faults that developed and some are upgrades.

In no particular order:

Move rear wings up 1"- they're too low and the tyres hit them

Fit correct fuses in fuse box

Fuel filler neck rubber has perished- needs replacing. Maybe fit on back panel instead of top?

Re-cover and replace inner side panels

Replace oil pressure gauge bulb

Change driver seat mount... too low?

Replace gear stick gaitor and surround. Secure gear stick knob.

Fit 3rd brake light (never fitted before SVA, wiring done)

Respray exhaust or replace with stainless (have already but needs 2" added into it cos mine's a wider car)

Replace split steering rack gaiter

Fix broken weld on front wing

Add antifreeze

Setup carb correctly- black exhaust and 10mpg suggests a problem there

Replace battery cover or move battery from p' footwell

Fix loose oil catch bottle

Replace main beam bulb (how the hell's that blown sitting in a garage!)

Paint and fit cambelt cover- got scared after finding loose bolt trapped between belt and alternator pulley!

Mount screen, wipers, washers etc.

Do full nut and bolt check of car before driving!

Oh, and a bloody good clean!

So, all this to do with no money, with time that I should be spending job hunting!

Don't know why I'm telling you this... guess I just wanted something to moan about and also thought writing the list here might help motivate me and I know plenty of you lot would have this done in about a weekend!

EDIT: Also setup suspension geometry! Never did this before SVA so it's all pretty random and God knows what it's doing to the tyres!

EDIT: Oh, and then save up tax, insurance and MOT!

Cheers,
James

Some of those are 5min and <£5 jobs so do those first.

Fuses, bulbs and antifreeze for example.

I find knocking a few easy ones off a list makes builds some motivation for the harder ones.

Yep, apart from the stainless exhaust one they are all very easy.. the easy bit is making the list then working down it. That makes it easier than easy to sort the easy peasy stuff out.

DO IT!

You're right, a bunch of them are pretty simple to get done.

What is a bit more concerning, I've lost the damn manifold and silencer!!!

How can you lose some things that big!

Cheers,
James

I lost a house radiator, left it propped against the outside of my house for 30mins.
Never did find it

You didn't leave it outside while working on the car?

i make lists every week for work, for me i find it best to pick the worst thing on the list and set about it with determination. I hate leaving the worst stuff til last!

Bob,

I have to agree !!

James, you bloody woose, pretty well 95% of those jobs are "5 mins each at the most"
perhaps the next Newlands visit will be at your house, and we can give you a good kicking about, and then fix your car!!

Trust me, my car was off the road for 4 years, and now its back, i really do enjoy it, and my excuses were not because a bulb was out
or the exhaust was the wrong colour !

Mine was health related (mine), grand kids /my children problems, and other family related, work also did not help!
plus knackered engine,

Come on, get these pathetic jobs done over the winter, and as a few have said, write a list, and tick each job off, i still do it now!
and you should see my list !!

Regards

Steve

a team

Will somone put up a pic of B,A,BARACUS and throw a chocolate bar at this guy .
Get on with it.
Seriously though I would tackle the anti freeze first as your list will grow if the weather turns.
Good luck.
Denis.

James, lets make an attempt to work through this list.maybe put in order of priority to go through MOT first.

19 months have past since the thread started so you have obviously a shorter list to work with, lets get stuck in. I can give you a bit of time on my next off shift.
