Car storage
Parents sleep over the garage and on Wednesday I drove the car into it. It's running rich so there was a wiff of petrol which is the final
straw.
Without leaving the garage door open do I have any options, airtight garage door? Ventilation? Or keeping the car outside - does anyone do this?

You must be running very rich if it wiffs of fuel after a run. Perhaps you have a leak?
Mine is stinky on start-up, which is pretty standard, but once running properly and after I stop it is fine.
Are you on carbs or efi? Bike carb breather pipes can help a bit if you are on those.

p.s. If you leave it outside then you will have to drill holes in the floor, as all car covers leak (in the end). Its not ideal, but I built mine
outside.

haha, all good answers.
I've checked for a leak and theres nothing. Its pre-IVA (drove it back from test) and definitely running very rich as per emissions tester.
Other than that the source could be evaporation from the carbs or via the fuel tanks vent.
Geninuely I was told I'd have to get rid of it if I didn't find a solution  .
I'm moving out again in september but it'll still need storing there I think..

drive it in front first with the garage door open, fix some sort of tubing from the exhaust to outside and then you can work on the car, run the
engine in the garage all you want?
and argue that it is a constructive hobby that has taught you a lot about engineering  thats what i use on my parents when it comes to my radio
controlled cars

Would it not be easier to fix the rich running as a first step.
If it still smells of petrol then stop outside the garage have a cup of tea and then push it in 20mins later (unless it's tipping down with
rain), and push it out before starting.
ETA: If fumes get from the garage to the bedroom that easily then there is a problem with the house as much as the car (if there's a boiler in
the garage then there is a CO risk never mind the heat loss they must be suffering).

I have a similar issue, liiving room over garage.
I push the car in and out, otherwise I get carbon monoxide in the house.

Mine always stinks of petrol, even now it's been set up on an RR.
I park on the drive, turn it off, whip the bonnet off and leave it for a while before pushing it in. It's either that or the kitchen stinks of
petrol.
I've also sealed the air bricks between the garage and the house (garage is an extension to the house but with a door to the kitchen).
The plus side is that petrol vapour stops the cats getting fleas!
