What's it worth?
May seem like an odd question....
What do we reckon my car is worth?
Most know the spec but heres the brief:
GTS Panther
De Dion rear suspension. GAZ adjustable coilover shocks all round. Cortina front uprights
Wilwood Powerlite calipers front and rear
Escort quick rack
Type 9, 5 speed box, Heavy duty BGH with long first
Fiesta ST150 flywheel, AP Racing RS Turbo competition cover and pinto competition friction plate.
3.92:1 Tran-x Caterham specification limited slip diff, rebuilt.
Aim MXL Pro dash, probably the best digidash on the market.
13x6 and 13x8 Compomotive CXR wheels, R888 tyres all round.
Supercharged Duratec, pushing out 268bhp and 245lbft. Running Rotrex C30-98 supercharger, 12psi of boost. Forged rods and pistons, heavy duty big end
bearings. Fully rebuilt. Head lightly ported. Jenvey/Raceline DTH throttle bodies. Engine was essentially new when rebuilt for supercharger
fitment.
8000miles from new, registered in 2007.
June 1
June 9

Nearly finished 2

Are you selling ? or do you just need a self-confidence boost ?
£6K to £8K for a good 7 anyday, then theres the polished bits you have so i would say £8k to £10k.
now if you did it again and used a westfield as a base i would say £12k to £15k
a gts, mk,ST. ect ect will never fetch westfield status.

Maybe 8-10k, maybe 8k ish. Its because of badge snobs you see, if it said westfield on the v5 it'd be an easy 14k. Obviously IMO. I know
when I/if I sell mine one day i'll take a few choice bits off that I can use on another build.
If you do fancy another build why not remove the engine/dash fit a zetec, sell it for £5kish then put the bits in a new build?

I'd say 10k minimum, gotta be worth more though. And please don't say your selling it after all that hard work!

You'll never get all your money back on it that's a guarentee but it's worth what someone will pay. It's a good time to sell
price wise but I recon 8k. As other people have said it's the badge that drives the price up.
Don't do it, everyone regrets selling their car!

The engine is "too good" for the chassis. If you take the engine (and box out) and replace with a Zetec or similar the car is worth
£5-6K. Buy a Westfield or Caterham and but your engine/gearbox in and that will be worth the extra dosh. If you choose the right "donor"
(and have the available dosh) an engine swap over would maximise the value.

I am just considering what to do - probably sell next year, I do fancy a new project, or just something different.
I am not sure it would make financial sense to fit a zetec to the chassis if it would only be worth £5k after doing that and all the additional
expense and cost (new exhaust, bonnet, mounts etc etc) and what are my chances of picking up a caterham or westy in VGC that I could drop this running
gear into for a reasonably cost as it would have to be no older than the existing chassis in my eyes. Bearing in mind the westy/cat would have to
already be registered.
I'll have to tally up the costs.

instead of a zetec what about a pinto?
You took one out so do you still have the bits?
or perhaps a 'cheap' duratec.

A pinto Westfield and then swap would make sense.
