Local knowlege required
On Saturday, my son Luke leaves Cornwall set for John O Groats to start a cycle ride to Lands End (9 miles from home!)
I have attached a pdf of the route, could you take a look and check out your local area to see if there are any parts he should NOT use, or are there
any roads he shouldn't miss.
All info would be gratefully received
Thanks
Mark

My patience is wearing thin - WTF does this mean?

Sorry that you have had trouble posting.
I did the old end-to-end 20 years ago with my mate Tim. We stayed in youth hostels.
It was hard work, but memories will stay for ever. Ludlow youth-hostel by the river is excellent after a long day in the saddle.
We did it in 8.5days (it would have been 8, but it got dark and we didn't have lights, but it certainly wasn't 9).

Best advice is to tell him that when he's passing through the Grampians, he should beware the moon and stay on the roads...

Have you checked the Sustrans web site for hints and tips on cycle routes.
Good luck on the trip.

Also check the CTC (cycle touring club) site. They do suggested routes for LEJOG.
North to south is the hard way to do it. Prevailing winds mean he'll most likely have a head wind all the way and the toughest bit is Devaon and
Cornwall... and it's not all down hill like on the map!
I'll have a look at your file tonight.

This route takes you through the Mersey tunnel. You can only do this on a motor vehicle. If he's cycling, you either need to go through Wigan,
St. Helens and Widnes then over the Runcorn Bridge then through Frodsham and Helsby picking up the route again at Queensferry, or From Wigan to
Warrington and then Frodsham.
If he really wants to cycle through Liverpool, then he could take the ferry. Bikes are not allowed on the Underground trains either.

Well, Luke and Rob are in a village called Brora tonight.
After being forced offroad by a car, Luke has a damaged rear wheel and is on his third innertube on the first day. The wheel is just about useable but
will need a replacement when he can get one.
