frustrations
Well plan was to get the car running this weekend... it was going well is, managed to get it fire by giving the fuel pump 12v direct as the switched
ground on the bmw part of the engine loom wasn't working.
Spent the morning yesterday getting all the manifold and blanking plates on the engine, started it up then noticed my oil pressure light come
on........
Turns out the oil stat has been bodged open and because I thought I'd have time to fill the oil cooler (some 1.6ltrs) it was still empty, until
the engine decided to fill it with oil.
so with a 'dry' pump I couldn't get any oil pressure so sump off, prime the pump, refit and crank over to get oil pressure.......
now repeat these steps THREE times still with no oil pressure and you'll be at where I am! oil all over the garage, the sump is about 24 bolts
and in need of 6.5 ltrs of the finest blackstuff.
I've managed to prime the oil pump before with vaseline so why not these 3 times!??????

the good points are it was ticking over nicely at 900rpm and sounded ace but that's at the back of my mind now. Guess I should have checked the
oil stat first

...thinking laterally - backfill through the oil cooler piping using a drill pump?
