Snow and panic buying - Huh?
Just popped out to the local shop for essentials for the weekend. They were ALL there on the shelves.
Stella, chilli crisps and beef jerky.
But I kid you not, there was not a loaf of bread, a pint of milk or any eggs in the whole shop!
I guess the weather brings out strangeness in people?
Am off to light a fire and enjoy myself!
Hope everyone survives.

Nice one !
We did stollen, christmas cake and a fire last night, oh and homemade sloe gin, and a few coronas.
Surprised the press havent rolled out Edwina Curry to speculate on egg rationing, everything else is running out

Sure does, I found exactly the same at my local shops a couple of weeks back when it (lightly) snowed. It was getting so silly they had to ration
milk and bread to one per customer because incredibly stupid and selfish people were buying 5 or 6 loaves and big bottles of milk each. Dunderheads.

there aint even any snow here and all the frozen food gone from my local shop! not good when i went out for work today and forgot to defrost anything!

So its YOU that's hoarding all the beef jerky!
Every time it snows I go to the shop for a few essentials only to find the shelves bereft.
I've resorted to cutting up an old brown leather jacket into strips, soaking it in dripping and leaving it on a radiator for it bit.
I can't tell the difference! Yummy!
No Doritos either.
So I got some corrugated cardboard, cut into triangles, soaked in Hellmans ( or Advocat if you're an alkie) and fried in Marmite.
I'm working on a faux black pudding recipe utilising old inner tubes!
I'll not be starving!!

try living in Eastbourne, old people love panic buying, my dad told me to go and stock up on diesel (in cans) as there won't be any soon.

I do my shopping on friday and when I woke up late and saw all the snow I was expecting the above but it wasn't the case. The Bread aisle had
huge open gaps in it but everything I need was there. though the shop was busy so I might not have beens so lucky an hour later. What I don't
get is why you'd buy a huge amount of milk, Propper full fat milk can only be kept a week at most.
Don't go out an buy loads of Diesel in cans, thats what cause shortages. earlier this month I went for petrol at 7am on a sunday morning and
they were out because of the snow but they had diesel, on the same street about half a mile away is the next one so I went there and they had petrol
but oddly no Diesel.

I panic bought 45 cans from tesco today. 15 Carlsberg, 15 Fosters and 15 Boddintons so I'll survive a couple of days if necessary. The Stella
had already sold out.

At least they didn't buy up all the Dildos this time.
Tesco had a fine selection of Godes on sale. (At little French word play there for you.)

i suppose panic buying is caused by a lack of confidence in the supply chain really, since if you think something you do need is going to run out
soon, it makes sense to get it whilst you can. We havent had any problems round here with stuff running out recently, so no one tends to panic.
However, if fuel regularly ran dry then everyone would stock up whenever it seemed necessary, and thus make it like a self fulfilling prophecy.

Panic buying is caused by the news people telling you to get down here quick before it's all gone because everyone's panic buying.
