In one of the early PPC magazine edition they shortened a Volvo axle to fit an Escort with 5 link suspension , might be worth looking into?

I've got a Volvo 740 Turbo that i've stripped but still have the rear axle, could possibly remove it and sell it to you if you wanted it

I'm facing the same issue: Which Volvo Axle? 240 @ 53" or 740 @ 57"
The 240 apparently uses the same Girling Calipers as found on Triumphs And Caterhams It's a Dana 30 design (i've been told?)
Allegedly allowing wide choice in ratios and LS possibilities.
Anyone know the realities of refitting for an alternate 4 bolt/hubcentric wheel lug setup.
And even the weight of the above axle uints?
Thanks
