Floorpan in 18swg Aluminium

I have some aluminium sheet 1.6 mm thick spare and was wondering if the sva man would object to me using it for the floorpan?
I know I will have to weld in some 3mm thick strips to mount the seats on as the ally would'nt be strong enough.

Cheers Jimmy

1.6 mm is actually 16 swg.

you will absolutely need to add some kind of extra support for the seats, even on a steel bottmed car.

the 'book' car used a bench seat, but a normal sliding seat puts 'spot' loads where it bolts down. if its not bolted flat to the floor, the floor will move and 'ping'.

I would suggest you did as I did - just weld another one or two 1 inch sections across the floor and bolt through those. they will be a lot stronger and less flexy than a 3mm thick strip, which at say 3mm by 40mm is approx the same mass as a bit of square section anyway!
