Des Hammill 'Suspension and Brakes'
p16. 'Consider the range of positive castor angles to be between three and six degrees-----positive castor is always the requirement on a car,
negative castor can be dangerous.'
p18 'WARNING! No car should be set with positive castor-----------.Every car should be checked to ensure that there is an amount of negative
castor.'
Now am I missing something here? I must be.
Bought myself this book 'The Sports Car and Kit Car Suspension and Brakes High Performance Manual.' (Self betterment and all that).
Diametrically opposite statements. I think p16 is correct from other reading, but it's no comfort to find I'm 10 minutes into the book and
I'm befuddled already.
Ho-humm. I knew there was a reason I'm non-techie.
Any comments (provided not too disparaging), gratefully received.
Bob.

Positive castor is what you want, i.e. the upper steering pivot is located further to the rear than the lower one. It's a bit poor that howler
wasn't caught by the proof readers.

one wasn't castor and the other camber was it?
seems a bit weird though. have to be honest, i've never really noticed the term positive or negative castor. only just castor... very strange

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Just because it is written in a book does not mean that it is correct.

I bought that book and hoped it would tell me some interesting things.
It didn't. Lots of repetition and lost of bleeding obvious. I wouldn't recommend it.

I've read a lot of Christopher Hitchens, so got that one, but thanks for the tip.
Apropos of my first line, I was given to understand that this was 'the bible.'
