raw striker diet

well been in the garage today gicing the car the strip down,

managed to loose 18 kg so far

taken off full screen
wiper motor and arms,
water bottle half full of water,
carpets etc,

headlights replace with lighter lights,

put on aero screen

need to loose a bit more target is 500kg, car was 530 kg,

but still to replace the m16 calipers and change wheels to lighter alloys as my current wheel and tyre combo are heavy at 15.4 kg each,

so will look forward to getting it all done,

i do love starting a project again,

thanks

Looks like you have been busy Sean, it does look a great car, some nice trick bits on there, you should be able to loose most of the rest of your weight saving with a different wheel and tyre combination.

I'm looking to do exactly the same on our striker.
We're fitting Wilwood Powerlites on the front and rear axle. This Should save around 3kg on each corner for the caliper alone, going for smaller unvented discs will help a lot too I haven't found alloy hubs for Sierra uprights though
Anyway, this should enable us to fit 13" tyres, saving even more unsprung weight.

Also, I've killed the clutch at the last trackday this summer so while the engine is out a lightened flywheel will be added too, saving some 4kgs.
Future plans are a lighter radiator and alternator.
We have the new-scuttled striker, so there's no windscreen and we also have fiberglass side panels too.

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies,

I have tried to fit 13 s and they fit the forbes ok but not the rears womt lera the top of the upright and also the bottom wishbone, would need some serious mods,

So may have to stick with 15s we will see if not I'll be in touch eddie,

Would be great to see ome pics of the new striker build with glass sides etc,

Thanks Sean
