OT - old bike racing classes
Morning all,
A bit of a random question for you today... My Dad passed away last week he's having a decorateable coffin - we've got a picture of him
racing a Suzuki 250 in 1973, it's the only picture of him racing, and of course it's in black and white. The question I've got is,
would there have been a coloured background to his race number on his bike (as in different colours for different classes), and if so, what would it
have been? The picture looks like it's white, but I wanted to make sure before I go and paint it on the sides of his coffin....
There's no specific date on the picture and no more information on the caption than that it was a 250 at Brands btw, that's all I know.
The photo dates from before he met my Mum as well....
Cheers
Vince

Have you tried youtube for bike racing in 1973?
Good luck and do your dad proud!

Looking through some old classic racer mags, some had white front plates and green side plates and some had all green plates. As jeffw say's the
GP bikes seem to be all green as per his link.

Thanks all,
Looks like it's green sides with white numbers on the sides, and black numbers on white on the nose. Good job that green and white were his
favourite colours!
Cheers
