VERNIER CALIPER

Still digging around in my shed, now found a non-digital vernier caliper.

Mitutoyo 12"/300MM. hardly used, boxed

£20, incl, P&P if anybody wants it.

Do you want Mitutoyo accuracy or Aldi hit-or-miss plastic?

I was also tempted to give a one word answer that was unrelated to the thread but then I realised your mistake, you're confusing vernier scale calipers with digital calipers.

Hi
Keep digging you may find your pot of gold
Had many good holidays in the vendee or Ventee
as the French call it, nearly bought a house there
near Jard-Sur-Mer.
Good luck

Aldi ones are accurate - weirdly

I have Mitu mics plus the 1", 2" & 3" reference standards and the Aldi measures the references spot on.

As a result I have 4 or 5 cheapo's and use them for everything.

Bit like old clockwork watches - really nice to own an old tic-toc Rolex but nobody in their right mind uses them for accuracy - even Swatch are more accurate.

You'd be surprised how quickly the sales people at B&Q try and assist you after ignoring you for the past 15 minutes when you try and start a chainsaw

Aldi ones are 150mm, the one he is selling is 300mm. That's twice as big isn't it ?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Digital calipers are great for quick readings without having to do any thinking, but the damned batteries are always flat whenever I take them out of the box! They are a cheap set though and the Mitutoyos that are round at my parents (best kept there, as Dad's got the machine tools) last ages between batteries. My simple, mechanical set always work though!
