storing kit outside
i need to free the garage up for a cople of weeks to do some work on a friends trike, problem is his garage complex has those droppable bollards and
there is no getting my car over them, so im faced with the prospect of storing her outside for a few weeks, anyone here keep there kit on the drive if
so what precautions do you take? i have no weather gear nothing.

mines outside 12 months a year I use a cover from Argos with no problem
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

what about security i dont want her wandering off and all thats fitted is the steering lock

What about a couple of scaffold boards so that you can drive your car over the droppable bollards?

Cover from CBS are good, my car lived outside for a long time.
I sometimes use a bicycle U-lock through the wheel for added security.

Carl, who you insured with? My insurance has a condition that the car is garaged between midnight and 6am or something like that. might be worth
checking.
If insurance is all good, pop her on axle stands and take the wheels off, and then a good cover. Won't go anywhere

My insurance is the same. Must be in a locked garage (whilst at home) between 10pm and 6am.

I don't have the option of a garage!
The striker is out in all weathers, and has been for the last 5 years
Tried an expensive car cover (can't remember brand) it failed after a year
Now I use a cheap cover from eBay and expect to replace it every year
My car is insured outside, the only thing they wouldn't do is an agreed value for some reason?

I'm shortly going to lose my garage so I have a plan.
I'm making a steel framed box to fit over my locost. It
will have brackets that will rest on the front suspension and
the roll bar and will be lockable. The box will not quite touch
the floor. It will have an alarm fitted, so should be secure and
weatherproof. The idea is to tilt the box up and secure with a
prop and roll the car in and out as required. Will have small
jockey wheels at front to aid the tilt.
Haven't decided what to clad it with yet. A bit of an outlay I know
but should pay for itself eventually as I won't be paying £40 pm
for a pokey little lock up

Is there none of them self storage places nearby that use shipping containers?
Place round here charges £20/month for a 40 foot container, just make sure its ground level:-D
