No Start problem
Evening all. Any suggestions would be greatly received! My red top locost will not start. There is no spark at the plugs. I have changed the plugs,
distributor, cap, rotor arm and coil. Is the only thing left the ignition module? It’s driving me mad!!!!!!

Do you have a dvm? Then check power and earth continuity to the coil and ignition module. And fuses.
Was it running before
Is battery in good condition to turn engine over quickly

Thank you. I’m very new to all this so unaware about dvm?!
It was running last wed, went to drive it thur and no start! Power getting to and from coil. I’ve taken ignition module off and it’s very worn and
dry. I’m told it should have grease on it?

Dvm digital volt meter
Cheap and simple models will measures voltage, current and resistance.
Ebay and maplins are good source to buy, b&q and screwfix sell them too.
Re. Ignition module. There are many different ones, can't comment on the information given, a photo may help.

I've always known them as AVO's. Amps, Volts, & Ohms.

Sorry but without details for the specific module it hard to diagnose from a distance.
Generally a base like that is bolted to a heat sink with thermal grease to help transfer heat, the switched electronics inside generate a fair bit of
heat, and could be cause of failure.
Assuming it is connected correctly, only way I can see you resolving this is buy substituting a working module.
Make sure it is mounted so as to dissipate heat.

Many thanks for your replies. It was mounted but I took it off ready for a new one. Will keep everything crossed it solves the problem!!

You don't say which car/model it may be from but a quick Ebay search seems to indicate it is generic astra /cavalier module, new one for less
than £11 e.g 311713056613
