Speed 3 Automotive

Just stumbled across this kit on the web - anyone seen one in the flesh or heard anything good/bad about them?

Speed 3 Automotive

I like both the mini and 6R4 kit, though the letters it quite pricey and requires the customer to deliver a sound shell in the first place (which will be hard to find a decent metro shell in good nick!).

But the mini looks good - styling maybe not quite as joined up as it could be but has a certain rallycross style appeal IMHO.

the mini reminds me of a radio control car that I wanted as a kid - about 30 or so years ago!

Was keeping an eye on the site out of curiosity after seeing in TKC that they were doing a 6r4 rep.

Soon lost interest after seeing the prices. £8k chassis + the cost of the body panels + a sound Metro (ha) before you start with anything else...

The radio control toy was far less costly LOL

Yeah, it’s a bit costly for the 6R4. Mini looks slightly more reasonable on first glance, though need to work through what’s really included in the kit.

Shame there’s not more of these kinds of kit out there at reasonable prices though - I’ve always loved the mini shape and idea of a mid engine bike conversion, but a space frame and GRP shell means not cutting up a perfectly good mini and not having to refurb a rusty shell too.

Not seen one or heard anything about them TBH.

A good friend of mine had a Metro City X as his first car 25 years ago - cheap yes, but somewhat uninspiring. I'm not sure you'd find one in reasonable condition these days without a fairly hefty price tag attached though.

Hi .
I saw this kit at the Kit Car Show last year, looked well built and good GRP panels,
The design is quite complicated which is what makes the panels so expensive.
The cage/chassis is very well engineered compared to some that were on show,
why not pop up to see it it's only an hour from you spot and its may put your mind to rest.
I think that whatever you desire will cost a lot more than first antisipated.

Happy hunting

The truth behind the average kit/Locost build IMHO - the true £££ cost is always higher than anticipated/hoped
