Boot lids and locks
Hi guys,
I’m thinking of ditching my tonneau cover on the striker and making a more solid boot lid.
I would want it to be lockable, so I’m after some inspiration of how to incorporate a lock, what material to use etc, so that any little scrotes who
try to prise it open might have a hard time...

What do you keep in there Andy?
as all I have is a gallon of fuel, some old tools and some waterproof clothing
plus in the 19 years ive been on the road, never had anyone even try to open the cover

Made mine out of alloy,then wrapped,never bothered with locks though as I don't plan on using/leaving the car anywhere I'm not far from it
tbh.
Used slide latches on mine.
Few tools,cable ties, some coolant and spare clutch and throttle cables live in mine.

I have hinged aluminium sheet with a lock from maplins. A key rotates a tab that locates in a slot in the chassis tubing. I marked the tab with read
paint so when trying to lock it, it would leave a mark on the tube. That is how I was able to ensure the slot was in the correct place.
