Insurance?
Hi
Just as arough guide how much would the insurance be for a 17 year old whod just passed his test and had a locost with a 1100 or 1300 engine in it.
Thanks.

search online for kit car insurers and get a few quotes!
Its apparently 30% - 50% of the cost of insuring a sporty car for an older driver.
I do however know of an aborted build due to really high costs of insurance for a 17 year old.
Silly but true is that bike engined cars often cost less to insure! So when you get a quote, try them with a 900cc bike engine for comparison.
My son is almost 17, and I got some quotes on line for tptf as a qulified 17 year old on a 10 year old 1.1 litre ford fiesta.
Ranged from 3200 to 1400 quid.
You get shafted as a youngster - no claims and a few extra years age help a lot!
get a quote before you build to know where you stand.

Give Adrian Flux a call - they are good for young drivers like you (and me) and also have specialist kit car policies. I phoned them a got a quote of
500 for a 2.7 litre locost. I was 21. I think my mate was paying about 180 for his 1600 locost which went down to about 130 when he put the 900cc
bike engine in! But again he was over the magic 21 - it'll be more for you.
Also try Footman James. I did but they wouldn't touch me with a barge-pole until I'm 25 cos my engine is over 1600.
