Where can you get more info?

I'm thinking of building a locost, or something like it, and I'm looking for information. Does anybody have any links or advice to offer?

Ideally I would like to build a Le Manns racer type body based on a mid engined layout, but without any prior knowledge and wanting to do it on the cheap that 's a bit unrealistic.

I'm thinking of starting with a locost as a learning curve for my ideal situation. I'm I mad?

Of course you are mad
Normal people BUY cars..........however you are in the right place
You may also want to look in the mid-engine section too....we are even more crazy there

Hi Luffys,

Nice to see another potential builder.

There's loads of info all over the web- build diaries and useful tips etc. etc. Start with the links that are on this site and work your way around.
Actually, having checked, the links section isn't up at the moment (ongoing site maintenance apparently ) so start here:

http://www.gibbs111.fsnet.co.uk

and follow the links on from there.

Also, read all the old posts on this site, there's only 17274 of them! Should give you a couple of hours worth of reading!

Last but not least: the more standard your build is the quicker it'll be and the more help you can get from others.

Most importantly- have fun!

HTH,

James

Yeah, your definitely in the right place, if you want the links just type 'links' after the web-site address in the box.

As for doing it on the cheap, your looking at £1k + for a basis locost, £3k+ for a bike engined one. The stranger you make it, the longer/more expensive it gets.

Buy the book, and as James says, start reading everthing you can. Then make your decision and get going.

Enjoy!!!
