Sierra manual

anyone in the WLM (West London Mafia) or anyone who lives near south Bucks have a sierra workshop manual that they might want to lend/sell a poor sod like me. the car needs to be stripped soon, i could do it without but when it comes to the loom a workshop manual might some in handy.

cheers

You will find that the manual will tell you very little about removal of the wiring loom. So here is a rough Idea of what you will need to do.

Remove head lining & disconect tailgate loom conector at rear, remove seats (all including seatbelts & rear side trim panels, door step finisher plates, front kick panels), centre console, & whole front main dash. diconect all multi, earthstraps & assorted connectors feed remnants of engine loom into passenger compartment.
Remove retaining clip from underside of fuse box (down & off loom), feed fuse box & loom up through panel & off car.

Should take you about half a day allowing for coffee stops & finding hidden screws.

Enjoy

Fin,

If you can't borrow one for nowt, the best place for stuff like that is ebay. I got mine for a quid or therabouts, plus postage of about £3.

Do a search on ford sierra, you'll find dozens of manuals.

Or try the local library (if you've got a library card!)

Cheers,

Mark

That's what I thought!! Still traipsing thru the local charity shops, more in hope than in expectation. Plenty of Maestro, Escort Mk3, Vauxhall & odd Fiat manuals.
Libraries - you'll be lucky!! Here in Brum, most copies have gone missing/lost/irrecoverable. Which is why they are so scarce. Halfords seems to be the only option, unless ebay turns up the goods.
Incidentally, saw K-reg Sierra over the weekend - £395. Reasonable or silly price?

its not removal of the loom where a haynes manual helps - its knowing where to connect the bits you nheed to keep - like EFI - where its useful.

There is apdf copy on line somewhere on a russian site - try searching with google or hope a helpful person puts up a link here.

EFi is on its own seperate loom, I know cos I converted a carb model to EFi, & you don't just change the lump & add the ecu. You change fuel tank, fuel lines, throttle pedal & cable, then you have to add in extra wiring cos the alternator arrangement is different.

Enjoy

£395?!!

For a second car I would be quite happy to spend £395 (the wife wouldn't be at a guess)

To rip it into components? I paid £50 and got my money back by flogging bits off on ebay.

With the £345 saving, that'll get a NEW manual!

Just looked on Ebay there are half a dozen that are for sale between a pound and sick squid, that are finishing today. Warning - remember the postage charge.

If anyone needs some help getting started I am more than happy to take them through it. (Well at least I can help with something, coz my mechanical skill is cobblers!)

Hope this helps.
