Insurance

Hey guys, my dad and I have just finished building my locost, but we have come to a brick wall.

I am 17 and we cannot find a insurance company that will insure me. Has anyone insured a 17 year old on a locost and if so which insurance company did you use?

Have you tried the specialist insurers like Adrian Flux? Or just the 'ordinary car' companies like Direct Line?

At 17 you'll find it difficult with the specialists - the ordinary ones won't touch a kit or self-built car with any age driver.

The only way you'll improve your chances, even with the specialists, is to limit your mileage as much as you can, take a large excess, and make sure that you have a small engine.

Best of luck!

David
