Finished my rear suspension, finally....
Hi all,
Spent a busy weekend and have finally completed my rear suspension... its taken days to produce this.
I have gone my own way on the wishbone mounts, instead of making a box frame to hang the brackets off I triangulated to the top corners of the rear
bulkhead and tied the back of the diff on to the cross brace.
What do you think ?

looks nice. How did you determine your geometry for the suspension? Copied or designed? Are the rear uprights made from modified sierra ones? Any more
pics?  Sorry for all the questions.

I based the dimensions on the front suspension, which seem to align with the plans that exist on this site for a Sierra rear end.
There are some more pics in my archive.
The hub carriers are made from carved bits of 4" x 1/4" strip steel. I simply cut an "A" shape to the same height of the front
cortina uprights, carved the side plates from the same and welded together. I then cut a hole for the sierra hub assembly, dropped in and welded in
place.
Pivots are rose joints from Ebay with rubber bushes inboard.

Coming on nicely - I'll have to pop over sometime - you're in sunny Wadurst aren't you?
I've just had a look in your archive and was amused to see "Costs" and in particular the to do and time estimates.
I did that and it was a waste of time Trust me and bin it

Stopped updating that a while ago, once I hit £2500, my initial budget of £1000 is long gone. Still on track for time though !

Looks good fair stiffer than most rear end designs -- a couple of extra diagonals would make really stiff -- but of course it is the old conflict
betwen access to the mechanical bits and chassis stiffness.

The diff can still fiddle out from below (just) so I will put in a few more gussets around the top corners. Once I weld in a rear hoop that should
pretty much sort it.
My main concern now is stopping the chassis twisting through its centre, not sure how to address this beyond making the front and rear ends as rigid
as possible.
A few more thin tubes to be added and a fully welded tunnel is my next task.
