newbie.

Hi from Lancs.

i have started my Chassis this week...
Based on the Mcsorley 442 my intention is to have a Sierra IRS at the rear.

i Have a quick question ,my first, and sure it wont be the last

Has anyone built their chassis to fit the Ford 5 speed Type 9 and then retro fitted the MT75 at a later date without any problems?

i am still trying to find a Donor at the right money...i have borrowed a type 9 box to do my chassis, but if i end up with an MT75 will it fit, is what i am asking.

if you are wondering why i am not waiting till i get a donor...its becoause this is being done in My Dads garage because i dont have one, and at the moment he needs to use the garage so i need to get the chassis off the board and hoisted in the garage ceiling.

Thanks for any help...
trust me..i will be a regular on here.

Welcome.
Best advise is to take your time in all the things you do, It pays off in the end.
Do nt know your gearbox questions but rest assured someone will give you the answer.
All the best.

mt75 is bigger, if you make it tight for a type 9 then the mt75 wont fit. Im not sure where exactly it differs and by how much, but it is much bigger. Building a +442 gives you some space to play with, but sods law it wont fit whatever you do!

I'd be supprised if you can't find a type 9.
They come up on e-bay fairly regularly HERE'S one.
If the doner has an MT75 flog it and buy a type 9. They won't know that it didn't come from your donor if your worried about an age related reg.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!
