Formula Student UK...Worth a visit
Next week 5th July to 8th July is the British formula student competition at Bruntingthorpe.
http://www.imeche.org.uk/formulastudent/
It is free to get into spectate and is really worth the visit. You will see up close a huge range of student built race cars. You will learn a lot and
be hugely impressed with the ideas.
I have been a design judge there for the last 2 years (and would have been again this year if I wasnt working abroad) and I did this for free because
it was great to be able to see so many cars up close.
I learnt more at this event than any other automotive event I attended. Plus all the students just love talking about their cars and will tell you all
about them.
Make the effort.

I agree great event, I know the team from Bath this year so will be up there to support them, sadly without my Indy
John, do you always take one of your project cars up with you? I seem to remember a couple of years ago seeing something-old-with-a-big-engine-in,
can't remember what it was now! Seem to remember the engine being a Zetec but may be mistaken?

Should be up there this year, 4 of my housemates have worked on the FS car this year, they are still working on it in fact due to a problem at the US
event a couple of weeks ago.

Car At FS
Pete,
I have been a judge for the last 2 years and took my latest Minor up there (16V Lancia Integrale head on a Fiat block).
The main reason I wanted to be a judge was because I was wanting a job in motorsports and knew some big names may just see the car and being a judge
would look good on another wise quite sparse CV!
But after the first year I realised it was just so good to see so many enthutiastic people designing and building their own cars and being able to
offer advice to them. Judging seemed to be secondary to actually giving good constructive feedback.
I will not be there this year unfortunately as I am currently working abroad crashing cars!
Enjoy the event,
John

Crashing cars for a living eh? Sounds like fun to me! Who do you work for and what do you do exactly?
I'm currently looking for jobs in motorsport but it's very difficult being a recent graduate as lots of places want up to 5 years
experience
