1st anniversary.....

.... and still not on the road!!

Yep; this day last year I bought my "supposedly" road-ready formula27 kit and one year, one SVA failure it is still not on the road.

In the meantime, the following bits wre done/redone/fitted.

1. new QR steering rack + custom extensions (original was deadly due to fractured track rod )
2. rack repositioned for better alignment of track rods.
3. braided hoses fitted
4. new master cylinder fitted
5. steering wheel position moved up for more leg room
6. cockpit side padding fitted
7. bonnet altered to allow carbs to breathe cold air + K&N type fillters + trumpets fitted
8. oil catch tank fitted
9. oil cooler fitted
10. radiator cowl made & fitted
11. rear brake backplate sourced; both painted and fitted with new cylinders & shoes
12. diff gasket replaced + preloaded correctly
13. rear shock mounts raised
14. boot floor made (boot top partially finisned)
15. fog and reverse lamps fitted
16. rear arch protectors painted and fitted
17. accelerator linkage made + end stops fitted
18. seats bolted down
19. all electrical problems fixed
20. m/cycle front indicators fitted
21. nose cone vent patched and painted
22. clevis pin for brake pedal made
23. missing wheel studs on rear fitted
24. various nut covers, split tubing etc: fitted for SVA

I'm sure there is more ..... but still gotta make some front wing stays & a speedo that works then SVA retest ... so close .....

I can recall a conversation, how long ago was it now...........................thats it, just over a year!! Something along of the lines that unfinished kits are not necessarily quicker or cheaper to build than from scratch (as a new kit). This prooves a point. You will have a nice car at the end of it tho. Not long now.

It is just not possible to get into the mind of the original builder sometimes. I bet even some original builders cant get into their own minds
