Desperately Seeking I.T.help

Following my PC's previous problems
HERE

New developments I'm afraid...

After re-installing my New XP Original without my Anitivirus Software updating again... it's bombed out on me again!

What is it with these updates???? I'm considering not bothering at all... it's causing me so much hassle.

Right, so I re-installed XP back to basics again.... when it boots up it gives me errors to do with some .dll's these are some of them:

msdaosp.dll
msdaora.dll
msdaaps.dll

I know its a Microsh!t Data Access file but what does it do?

Your help would be appreciated pleeaase... Steve

Can you find those DLL files? - it's probably that they are missing.

They are usually in c:\program files\common files\system\ole db

If they are mising download them from the net or UU me and i'll email them to you.

Slipstream??

Not sure if it's relevant , but you can make an updated version of xp pro before installing it.

you download the sp2 into one folder and the contents of your xp into another folder.

and then you click on something (you'll have to search for specifics). and you get the option to load the updates into the xp folder , it does this automatically then you can make a bootable cd with the resulting slipstream version of xp+sp2 and jusy install it , without carrying out anymore updates.

i've never had any probs installing this slipstreamed version of xp pro.

I'm not an expert - but have you tried checkdisk to see if there are bad sectors on your hard drive?

This could give rise to missing files

Cheers

Have a look on here.

Trinet has a repair for the Microsoft data access components. Did you format before you reinstalled?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I recently had similar problems, I discovered Windows updates really cause mayhem when you try to do a repair installation because running the update installs uneeded MS Office dll files that weren't on the original Xp installation and enters them into the registry.

One way round it is to hand edit the registry.

OK - I finally now have an updated PC courtesy of a dodgy XP SP2 disc that I have used to get me away. I repaired my XP OS with this disc and everything is now hunky-dory... bit of a sod when my original XP disc has given me nothing but problems when trying to update. I have also got Registry Booster which has cleaned out many stray files, links and .dll's. My PC has never started up, ran or shutdown so cleanly.

Many thanks for your help guys... it is really appreciated. I hope I can help you's out like you have me... HNY!!!

Steve
