I've been running Yokohama A539s on the Locost and on the daily driver - they're a good compromise between life/quality/wet/dry etc etc. This is IMHO of course...

Also they're cheap at the moment here (as spotted by Zilspeed)

Cheers

I would ask for the date code of the 539's, their might be a reason for them being so cheap (you should'nt use tires over 6 years old).

Black circles have them at £27 each so I suspect that is the market value at the moment.

It's a good point though...

Ditto. 539s... Good compromise of grip in both wet and dry conditions and last well...

My only problem is that my tyres have been on the car for 4 years whilst I built it.... Doh!! I'm going to have to do many miles this year to wear them out before they reach they "use-by" dates...

Oh the hardship

lol. I wouldnt worry too much about the use by date - i took off a set of tyres that were 13 years old by the codes, and they were just fine. That was admittedly low milage and storage in a dark garage, but its not like they explode at midnight on the best before date.
