That's a lovely car and I think it is a BMC A series or similar.
The first Lotus cars had this engine with about 40hp - which gave them a phenomenal (for the day) power to weight ratio of 100bhp/ton.
£24999 is a lot of money though

Who is this super hero? Sarge? ...No.
Rosemary, the telephone operator? ...No.
Penry, the mild-mannered janitor? ...Could be!

That looks very like the one that was for sale (I think with the same company) before on ebay, funny that one had been totally restored as well, but I
don't think they mentioned this time that they had REPLACED the chassis. But I could be wrong and it could be another one.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

It says LHD on the ad but is clearly RHD. Nice car but not for the money.

Well A series would be correct for an S2 I think, but not as nice as a coventry climax.

And at that price will be on quite a few more times. Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

August 1960 would be A series 948cc (not 998). Twin SU versions were for USA, which would correspond to LHD.
An S2 should have flared wings, not cycle.
Lotus of Norwich, England ? Would expect it to be Cheshunt.
He may be selling a genuine car, but it's not the one in the pictures.

Castle motors are an odd company, they tend to specialise in the strange and expensive, castleair, the sister company supply helicopters to the media,
they did anika rices's trasure hunt amongst others
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
