the book

i dearly think its about time someone took the bull by the horns (as the saying goes )and re wrote the book(build your own sports car)all this modern day technology, like cad drawings and stuff, surely there couldent be as many mistakes, and shed more light on the grey areas where it shows the odd picture to go off.i know they cant get it 100%but there is mutch room for improvement

Does anyone know about the rumoured third edition of the book? Any contacts at Haynes publishing?

In an ideal world 'Our Ron' and Haynes would strike a deal with Jim McSorley and include his drawings at the back of the next edition...

Repeat after me... "Once apon a time, there was a great big..."

the roumer of the third book is the enigma of our circle of intrest....

so far i have heard it will:

cure all the previous mistakes,
include a section on IRS (probably sierra),
and somthing on the lines of hoods and weather protection,
be out this summer,
be out next year,
not be out,
make ron richer,
cure world hunger,
solve the middle east crisis,

the problem is no one can confirm any thing, and anyone who contacts haynes gets conflicting information.

one thing is certain....

THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

Is there an exchange scheme where you can swap your old one of a cut in the new one.
It is supposed to be locost.

yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Sound like a case for Mulder & Scully,
Just classify it as an "L" file.

I'd settle for a proper Errata with each page of both edition 1 and 2 listed with corrections.

As for the grey areas there was a feeling a while back that some of these were left out of the book on purpose because they were safety critical or whatever.

To my mind many of these grey areas do serve to make the builder THINK about what they are doing rather than just sticking things together as per the plans. This is not a radio controlled model and we are actually planning to drive the cars (I expect) and thus we should be 100% confident that we have understood and built the car correctly.

Just my point of view...
Cheers,
Craig.

ps. I do sympathise with those people who built some of the first Ron Champion based Locost's. There would have been virtually no support from Forum's like this and it must have been a nightmare...

We had to use common sense and judgement and make stuff up as we went along.
