Suggestions for 16" 1950's-60's style wheels
I have started building a car inspired by the car in the attached photo. It was a one-off built in the states in the late 1950's called the
'troy". My chassis is loosely based on an oversized Locost chassis and uses '92 Toyota Supra front and rear suspension with a Lexus
V8.
The car in the picture has wire wheels, which I would rather avoid because they are heavy and bendy. Using the Supra brakes, means I have to use
16" wheels.
Can anyone suggest some appropriate-looking 16" wheels? They need to be failry narrow, about 6" wide for the right look.
I'm happy with steel rims, and don't really want Minilite type wheels as for some reason I think of those as being more mid-late
60's.

What I would really, really like it the Dunlop wheels that the Jaguar D-Type had, but they are all mad money.
Can anyone recommend a look-a-like?

Another style I like is the "Kidney Bean" style used on 1950's Indy cars and the like. As cool as they are, they are perhaps a bit
American...

A Land Rover and Range Rover parts supplier in the States sells these, which look a bit like the Jaguar Dunlops (if you squint). A bit pricey for
ordinary old steel rims, and a bit wide too. Is there anything out there that is similar to this in 16"?

Peugeot 205 GTI alloy wheels, from the 1.6, not the 1.9, resemble the Dunlop ones in your photo

Try these, with some 8mm holes drilled between each of the larger holes they would look very similar to the Dunlop wheels.

16 inch wheels
Hi, my daily drive is a Nissan 2003 primera which has 16 inch rims, I dont know how wide they are but they have 5 studs and have vent holes.
Hope this helps. good luck with the project.

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of those look quite promising.
It seems 16" wheels are a tricky size to find, and thats the smallest I can go with the brakes I'm using.
