Hill climb recommendations
Do we have any hill climb fans on here?
I haven’t been to one before but plan to go as a spectator this summer.
I would prefer to go to one of the larger events where there will be a bit more variety in machinery, but searching the websites has confused me a bit
(not familiar with the classes and abbreviations).
Would I be correct in assuming that Shelsley Walsh and Prescott are probably the most local to me and more professional setups???
Any advice welcome
Cheers
Thom

I think the Prescott is one of the biggest. It was the National finals the same weekend as Stoneleigh. Apparently they have every sort of vehicle
taking part from bikes to hot hatches. I believe Richard Hammond was there too! Check out http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/events.htm

Bugger, that sounds as if it would have been good!
The events look a bit sparse at Prescott, what do we think is worth watching at Shelsley Walsh?

Shelsley is a really good day. Local events also worth a look - usually attract up to 80ish cars.

Hi Thom,
I used to live near Cambridge and because of the lack of hillclimb venues locally decided to compete in Sprints whre you are spoilt for choice.
As far as Hillclimbs are concerned, Prescott as you say is probably your closest and in my opinion the best in terms of the setting and the sheer
atmosphere of the past. Prescott is owned by the Bugatti Owners Club who should be able to provide you with a calendar of events. Also have a look at
the British Hillclimb Championship and that will give you the main events.
If you fancy it, the Prescott Drivers School is a memorable day and worth every penny.
Hope this helps

Look at the Bugatti Owners Club website for Prescott and the Midland Automobile Club website for Shelsley. They both show lists of events for 2007,
but it is really only worth going to the national events if you want to see the really competitive machines. See you there!

A must-not-miss event will be the Shelsley meet over the w/end of August 18/19.
They are celebrating 60 years of the British Hillclimb championship and will be running cars from each decade.
If it's anything like the 100th anniversary meet a couple of years ago be there early.

Any hillclimb at all is worth visiting. Even if the British Championship is not visiting.
You won't meet a friendlier bunch of people than those in a hillclimb paddock.
I would usually post clips at this point ![](/images//smilies/tongue.gif)

I race in the Reliant Sabre & Scimitar Owners Club speed championship, and competed at Shelsley on Saturday for the first time, having only
previously spectated there. Awesome place, pretty scary track as there is no room for mistakes...
Picked up my first ever trophy and best result, with 2nd in class
Go, watch, talk, enjoy!
Cheers, Raz
