Is it just me?

Or should DIY be DYI, for Doing Yourself In?

I'm taking a few months off...

Painting frame: failed, scratches off all the time
Mounting rear end: almost gave myself a stroke, but with a lot of help, and a trip to the machinists, did it
Rear half shafts into diff: ditto
Front ball joints: stripped going on, fixed it, now they're on, and everything's rosy, but wait...
Steering column: oh that's right, the guy didn't include it, though he said he would...
ditto Fan
Master cyl mounting: after much grinding etc they're on
Brake lines: supplied ones too short, need to go get new ones
Rear brakes: nightmare and several trips to the Mazda dealer but OK now, and handbrake cables on
Alu panels: don't fit - no, sorry two of the interior ones do
Tranny tunnel cover: received piece has the holes for the handbrake and shifter in wrong spots
I think you get the picture and so do I. But after several months of serious daily attention, this is where I am. It rolls, the wheels point in different directions, because I didn't get promised steering tie rod ends, but it does roll.

that's building a car for you - it's not meant ot be easy and you won't always enjoy it either, but the end result cancels all that out

I am really pleased with the increased skill, knowledge and experience I gained plus I've got a great little car that's fast & fun to drive.

Like my Mom always said "you'll laugh about it later"

i'm with you,

if you don't get parts wich you are promised to get its wrong...

offcourse there will be enough things wich will be diffcult also if you had the parts, still having them is first..
